SAN FERNANDO CITY, Feb. 20 (PIA) – The province of La Union has an added feat by passing 100 percent the 2019 Good Financial Housekeeping.

Based on the results released by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Feb. 14, the provincial government of La Union and its 19 municipalities and lone city passed the good financial housekeeping standards as of Jan. 31, 2020.

This was contained in a 46-page DILG document posted on its official website.

The DILG uses the following criteria to determine if local government units (LGUs) pass the GFH:

First, most recent available Commission on Audit Audit Opinion is Unqualified or Qualified for 2017 or 2018; and

Second, compliance with the Full Disclosure Policy (FDP), which involves the posting of financial documents in three (3) conspicuous places and in the FDP portal for all quarters of 2018 and the first quarter of 2019 posting period documents.

The DILG La Union, on its official Facebook post on Wednesday, said the Seal of Good Housekeeping is in line with the Department’s commitment to aggressively scale up interventions aimed at elevating the practice of good governance in the compliance of the LGU with accounting and auditing standards, rules and regulations.

In 2018, La Union again scored 100 percent of the criteria.

The Seal of Good Housekeeping is one of the factors being considered for an LGU to pass the first core area of the Seal of Good Local Governance, which is Financial Administration. (JCR/JND/PIA La )Union
