Pangasinan conducts inaugural lecture on Federalism

DAGUPAN CITY, July 29 (PIA) – The provincial government of Pangasinan, in partnership with the University of the Philippines (UP), holds an inaugural lecture on Federalism on Friday.

Dr. Prospero De Vera, vice-president for Public Affairs of UP, is the invited resource person to discuss the current burning issue which is in connection with the pronounced legislative agenda of the Duterte administration.

A panel of discussants and reactors from various sectors of Pangasinan were also invited to share their views and perspective on the subject matter.

Gov. Amado Espino III said the forum being held at the Center for Pangasinan Studies at the Bengson- Yuson house in Lingayen town is aimed to serve its objective as an avenue for discussion of issues relative to the concerns of the province. The Center for Pangasinan Studies was inaugurated on April 5, 2016 in time for the ‘Agew na Pangasinan.’.

On July 18, the 9th Sangguniang Panlalawigan led by Vice-Governor Ferdinand Calimlim passed Provincial Ordinance 1-2016 billed ‘Establishing the Center for Pangasinan Studies (CPS) and appropriating funds therefore.

The CPS will serve as a repository of documents, researches, artifacts, printed materials and media materials on Pangasinan and will collect, document, preserve, publish and disseminate information that will promote historical, economic, political and cultural studies.(JNP/VHS/PIA-1,Pangasinan)
