Following the success of the paperless job fair last April 29 and 30, 2014, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) has introduced a jobs website for the mutual benefit of job seekers and employers alike. The launching was held last June 5, 2014 at the La Tabacalera Function Hall.
“It is a job-matching website for provincial use. Job applicants can post their resumes or create their profiles on the website, and look for job vacancies. On the other side, employers can post their job vacancies in the website while at the same time be able to search and filter for resumes of applicants. All they have to do is register. And best of all, it’s free,” said Nicole Rudio, PESO Manager.
With about 50 employers from various local companies in attendance, the launching showcased the said website with a live demonstration of step-by-step instructions on how to register and maximize its use.
Although non-registered online users can browse around the site and its contents, it is strongly recommended that they sign up for more access, and in turn more opportunities for employment matters.
“It’s our way of streamlining the job seeking process at PESO. As our core service, we are to liaise between job applicants and employers. What usually happens is that the employers come to us to manually search for resumes. This time, we’re offering the same service online, available 24/7 and it’s bringing in more possibilities for both the employers and the applicants,” said Rudio.
During the launching, it has also been noted that the jobs website can also be accessed by users via mobile gadgets such as smartphones and tablets, aside from the typical computer desktops and laptops.
A mobile application version of the jobs website is also being considered to foster its expansion in the future.
“Only jobs guarantee a permanent pathway out of poverty- and our challenge today is to create stable, wage-paying quality jobs,” said Gov. Imee in her SOPA last 2013, highlighting her constant support for the creation of more jobs for Ilocanos. Through the jobs website project, it is expected that this priority will be further realized.
