Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos (2nd from left), together with Home Development Mutual Fund Vice President for Northern Luzon Marilene C. Acosta and Batac City Mayor Jeffrey Nalupta, unveil the designs for the housing units being developed by the Provincial Government and funded by Pag-IBIG at Barangay Quiling Norte, Batac City last August 8, 2012.

Governor Imee R. Marcos, together with Laoag City Mayor, Michael Farinas, Provincial Administrator, Atty. Windell Chua, Home Development Mutual Fund Vice President for Northern Luzon and Pag-IBIG Representative, Ms. Marilene C. Acosta, and other guests unveiled the Adigi Homes at Brgy. Quiling Norte, Batac City.

“This is a pioneering enterprise that began not too long ago but is finally going to bear fruits today. Thanks to Pag-IBIG,” Gov. Marcos said, mentioning that the province is the first beneficiary of the Php 50 billion budget allocated by Pag-IBIG for Region 1.

The Adigi housing project received Php 20 million budget allocation from the Pag-IBIG Fund with an interest rate of 6 to 7 percent per annum payable within 3 years upon release. Acosta explained that whilst other provinces had signed memoranda of agreement with Pag-IBIG to extend financing loan, Ilocos Norte is the first to be approved and get its developmental loan release.

“This is the first project approved under our group’s housing loan program nationwide,” Acosta said, handing out right after half of the allocated fund or the Php 10-million worth of check to Gov. Marcos to formally certify the project’s initiation. “Out of the 18,000 Pag-IBIG members in Ilocos Norte, there are only 300 who avail of the loans,” she added, expressing right after her belief that such project will also encourage more Ilocanos to try Pag-IBIG services.

“Ilocanos are now ready to spend,” Gov. Marcos remarked, enumerating that the prospect Batac-based clients are those from Mariano Marcos State University, Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital, other research institutes and national agencies.

The program will also help people in Batac who are renting to benefit from more viable housing packages and eventually live in their own homes, she added.

This socialized low-cost housing is within 4.8 hectares of land and its first phase will give rise to 122 units to be made available to government employees capable of paying housing loan amortization. They can choose among the 30-square meter, the 36-square meter, and the duplex bungalow-types of units.

Ayuyang Residences will consist of three low-rise condominiums, each with 30 units to be made available for government employees capable of paying monthly amortization. Besides residential units, the project also features a swimming pool , a clubhouse, and other recreational areas. With its application for Php 40 million funding from Pag-IBIG still ingoing, the target construction is said to start this year.

“A simple part of the Ilocano dream is to finish school and build a home for their family and certainly, we are honored and privileged to be part of that dream,” Gov. Marcos added.

Interested clients are encouraged to inquire at the Provincial Assessor’s Office at the Ilocos Norte Capitol. Being a government employee and member of Pag-IBIG are the main requirements for application. (Grazielle Mae A. Sales PGIN-CMO)
