



The City Government of Vigan through the leadership of Mayor Eva Marie S. Medina launches the E-VIGAN on September 8 coinciding with the culmination of the 2011 World Heritage Cities Solidarity Day and Cultural Festival.
The E-VIGAN or the Electronic Vigan Inter Governmental Agencies Network is an interconnectivity network project that will widely and directly interconnect city hall and all barangays and public schools to government offices.
This is another breakthrough in the administration of Mayor Eva that will provide quality and efficient services for the Bigueos. It will also serve as a tool for more productive, efficient and time saving government operations and delivery of services.
Mayor Eva said in her speech that by unifying interconnectivity services, the city government saves on the higher cost of separate services, gone are the days when so much time and resources are spent in delivering notices and advisories to the barangays as well as monitoring operations and services of the city government outside of the city hall.
She added that student and teachers can conduct research through the free personal computers and internet access aervice to major educational research that will definitely help in their pursuit of quality education.
During the launching, an actual live video conferencing, email and chat was shown on stage where City Health Officer Dr. Loida Ranches sends a memorandum on Dengue alert to Dep-Ed Vigan and to Pantay Laud Barangay Captain Ireneo Arca. City Social Welfare and Development Officer Celerina Agcamaran also sends an email message to Raois Barangay Captain Roberto Valdez and ABC Pres. John Patrcik Singson sends a live email inquiry to Playa de Oro Resort in Mindoro.
Barangay officials, government employees and all Bigueos may now transact with each other and even with anyone across the globe using the broadband service. (Repost from http://www.vigancity.gov.ph)
